Com. P APPAJI (PUTTUR APPAJI)

Com. P Appaji is another Comrade of Karnataka who was instrumental in formation of A I T E U Cl.III (Namboodiri) and at later years, for the formation of BSNL Employees Union.

Com. Appaji joined the erstwhile P&T department as a Telephone Operator. He has worked in many districts of Karnataka Circle and wherever he got transferred he saw to it that the trade union activities are initiated at that place through a band of committed young union activists.

Born in a place called Sulia of Dakshina Kannada District, he joined the department when he was studying in Pre-University. After joining the department, he became graduate.

He has served at all levels of A I T E U Cl.III Union – and was one of the Comrade who identified himself with Com. Moni bose and Com. Namboodiri at Bhopal in 1994, along with the other senior comrades of Karnataka. Com. Appaji has been identified as a comrade, who was fighting for the establishment of real and right type of trade union activities within in A I T E U Cl.III union and many a times he has fought against the anti-trade union policies followed by the union both at Circle level and also at National level.

Com. Appaji served as Asst.General Secretary of A I T E U Cl III (Namboodiri) since 1994 to 2003. He has also served as the Organizing Secretary of A I T E U Cl III (Namboodiri) at Circle level. He use to attend all Circle Working Committee Meetings , even though he was not holding any posts after 2003. He was that type of very committed comrade, who used to address the branch & district level Union meetings and educate and mobilize the ordinary rank and file members of the union for a cause and struggle. The A I T E U Cl III (Namboodiri) and BSNL Employees Union cannot forget his yeoman service rendered by him in building the union activities in D K District.

He got superannuated from service in the year 2003. Afterwards, he settled in a remote village near Udupi; In the year 2010, his both the kidneys failed and he succumbed to death on 28th November 2011.
